Earlier this month, the members of COWABUNGA! announced they will be breaking up following a farewell show at Empire on February 15th. It the statement made by guitarist and songwriter Ian Marsh, they said, “Rest assured we’re going to go out with a bang…As a going away gift to anyone that liked our band, we will be re-recording “Cherry Cola” and giving everyone at the final show the chance to make it on the gang vocals of the new track.”
In addition to the new and improved recording, Marsh has informed us that the band will be filming a music video of their performance of “Cherry Cola”. In addition, there will be some party scenes shot at an after party at Marsh’s home in Reston. “We’re gonna record the gang parts of “Cherry Cola” while we play it but let people that want to be in it record it in time in a back room [at Empire],” Marsh explained.
The band recently finished the re-record, and guitarist Jordan Black took some photos of the recording process, which can be seen below. “The video will have a ‘day in the life’ feel to it, and I think it’s a fucking cool idea,” said Marsh.
So come out to Empire in Springfield on February 15th to party with the guys in COWABUNGA!, BROADSIDE, RANDOM HOLIDAY, THE ODDITIES, LIKE YOU TO ME, THE GOOD FIGHT, and AMONG THE MANY.
