DESCRIPTION:People's Blues of Richmond brings a carnival-like mayhem to their dark\, blues-infused psychedelia. Their new album\, Good Time Suicide\, is a study in excess\, brimming with ballads of drugs\, vice and murder that sonically recall early Led Zeppelin\, only weirder and with a modern sheen. Word is starting to spread about the manic intensity of the band’s live performances as they burn up the road in support of Good Time Suicide\, sharing bills with a diverse collection of bands—from Ghostland Observatory and Black Joe Lewis to Galactic and Flogging Molly.  Dale and the ZDubs-A fresh rock/reggae groove is flowing out of Montgomery County\, MD and their name is Dale and the ZDubs. Born out of Montgomery County\, Maryland\, the band\, comprised of Dale Rodman (vocals/guitar)\, Sean Dunnevant (vocals/bass)\, Mike Candela (electric guitar)\, Brandon Moultrie (saxophone/ewi)\, and Miles Lieder (drums)\, features some of the most talented\, passionate\, and strange musicians ever to grace a concert stage.  Invisible Landscapes- The band began as a group of close friends jamming together simply for fun. Frontman Raphael Lambriola introduced his musical ideas to bassist Hunter Gowen and keyboardist Jed Tuazon who expanded on them while simultaneously improving their musicianship. Activists and cities all over the world are moving towards a new system. But will the economic powers allow it? Bikes vs Cars\, a new film project from BANANAS!* and Big Boys Gone Bananas!* director Fredrik Gertten\, looks into and investigates the daily global drama in traffic around the world. Climate change and never-ending gridlocks frustrate people more than ever. Instead of whining\, people in cities around the world take on the bicycle as a Do It Yourself solution. Road rage and poor city planning creates daily death amongst the bicyclists. And now they demand safe lanes. It’s an uneven fight. Activists and politicians that work for change are facing a multi-billion dollar car\, oil and construction industry that use all their means to keep society car dependent. We know that the world needs radical changes to save the climate and the environment\, but the car industry is selling more cars than ever. Today there are one billion cars in the world. By 2020\, that number will double. The film will follow the individuals around the world that are fighting to create change. We meet Aline at Sao Paulo’s Ciclofaxia\, the weekly Sunday ride where one lane of Paulista Avenue is opened for bikes only. Aline is an inspirational person in the city’s bicycle movement\, who tries to focus on the positive aspects of being a cyclist. But that can be difficult in a city where one bicyclist is killed every four days. And in Toronto\, where mayor Rob Ford strips away the city’s bike lanes in his battle to win the “war on cars\,” we watch as members of the Urban Repair Squad infiltrate the streets at night\, using spray paint and stencils to replace them. From bike activists in Sao Paulo and Los Angeles\, fighting for safe bike lanes\, to the City of Copenhagen\, where forty percent commute by bike daily\, Bikes vs Cars will look at both the struggle for bicyclists in a society dominated by cars\, and the revolutionary changes that could take place if more cities moved away from car-centric models.

Best described currently as "electroacoustic sound sculpture and carpets of drone". There have since been a handful of live shows\, a contribution to the Front & Follow label's "14 Versions of the Same ep" remix project (look for another F&F project in collaboration with BLK w/Bear in 2012)\, and collaborations with Daniel Barbiero and Gary Rouzer as well as the group Safe Fast & Effective. Due to a last minute change of circumstances\,  Brock Zeman will not be appearing  Tony Denikos (www.tonydenikos.com )  has been been described as :"CCR meets John Prine meets Lowell George" and is the 2012 winner of the Grand Prize in the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest for his song "The Tip of My Tongue" and his song "Home For Christmas" was the winner of the 14th Annual Great American Song Contest. He performs "Folk n Real Life Americana' which is modern Americana with deep roots and lyrics that are witty\,purposeful\, and reflectivre with stories that go straight to your heart. These samples are often culled from television shows such as Sanford and Son and SpongeBob SquarePants\,[3] though can also be simple repeated calls and chants. The instrumental tracks include heavy breakbeats and call and response stanzas similar to those found in the go-go music of Washington\, D.C.. The breakbeats are pulled from samples\, with the most prominent being "Sing Sing" by disco band Gaz[4] and "Think (About It)" by Lyn Collins.[5] Much like the rave-era genre known as breakbeat hardcore\, Baltimore club sounds as if the music was intentionally hurried\, as each song is made with a limited palette of sounds and is based on similar frameworks.[citation needed]  Baltimore club was born in the record stores of Baltimore first by Scottie B\, Shawn Caesar and DJ Equalizer. They were then joined by DJ Patrick\, Kenny B\, DJ Class\, Diamond K and others. They took some inspiration for their sets and production from British breakbeat hardcore records.The Blapps! Records (UK) label released several records between 1989 and 1992 that are considered classics in the Baltimore genre\, as well as in the British rave scene. "Don't Hold Back"\, "Too Much Energy" and "Let the Freak" were sampled and played heavily by DJs and producers\, and would define the Baltimore club sound.  In the early 1990s\, Baltimore club music developed a cult following in the North Jersey club scene\, particularly in the Brick City club genre of Newark\, New Jersey developed by DJ Tameil. This spread stems from the distribution of mix tapes from traveling Baltimore Dj's. There were also a number of Boston-area radio shows in the mid-nineties that played Baltimore club music. It has also spread south to Virginia club scene  and even farther south. It has also started to spread to New York City.

Mathis Grey\, Indiana singer-songwriter and Patrick Williams\, Indiana guitar instrumentalist\, perform separately but tour as a duo called "Acoustic Nomad" (www.fretsoup.com/acousticnomad ). Mathis Grey has been an experienced and touring songwriter  of folk rock and folk soul for many years and Patrick Williams has been compared to Joe Satriani\, Michael Hedges\, and Alex De Grassi . Adam Carroll (www.adamcarroll.com) is considered one of the top songwriters in Texas and rarely makes it to the DC area. He is a Texas Songwriter born and raised who considers his careful songwriting his forte and  turns the events of ordinary lives into moving and humorous songs. As he says\, "Songwriting is the one thing I'm passionate about". He has co-written with and had his songs covered by other artists and songwriters including Slaid Cleaves\, Hayes Carll (who said he emulates Adam's songwriting and said he used to miss some of his own shows to see Adam perform). His rare sense of language and command of melody have led others to compare him to Townes Van Zandt\, Todd Snider\, John Prine\, and Bob Dylan and his CD's have been produced by Lloyd Maines (yes\, the father of Natalie).  Adam Carroll's wife Chris Carroll (www.chriscarrollsongs.com) originally from Canada but emigrated to Texas\, is a formidable talent of singing and songwriting in her own right and will be performing both separately and together with her husband with whom she has formed both a talent match and a love match. DESCRIPTION:Please come on out to a wonderful show this coming Friday May 8\, 2015 at 730 PM at Electric Maid in Takoma DC (268 Carroll Street\,NW\, Washington\, DC 20012-across from 7-11 between Seekers Church and Torchinsky's Funeral Home\, less than one block from Takoma Metro Station-202-545-3980) with Mathis Gray and Patrick Williams of Indiana touring as Acoustic Nomad and local\, internationally touring activist and singer-songwriter Emmett Williams\, all for a suggested donation of $10 at the door to artists and space and waters available for a nominal donation in a supportive and comfortable and intimate atmosphere with great sound.  Mathis Grey\, Indiana singer-songwriter and Patrick Williams\, Indiana guitar instrumentalist\, perform separately but tour as a duo called "Acoustic Nomad" (www.fretsoup.com/acousticnomad ). Mathis Grey has been an experienced and touring songwriter  of folk rock and folk soul for many years and Patrick Williams has been compared to Joe Satriani\, Michael Hedges\, and Alex De Grassi .  Emmett Williams (www.emmettwilliams.com) is a complex man and performing songwriter of many aspects including powerful songwriting.  His influences run the spectrum of punk\,funk\, rock\, and country but he has found his calling as a folk performer. One critic said  "he writes and performs songs of profound passion\, beauty\, and conviction sung by an artist who tears every word from his soul". He has toured internationally and is releasing his fifth CD. As another critic said "his music is fun\, intense\, eclectic\, and powerful". DESCRIPTION:PLEASE come on out for a SPECIAL acoustic Americana and folk show tomorrow (NOTE DONATION AT DOOR IS $15 CASH ONLY\, NOT $10 AS USUAL) Thursday\, May 7\, 2015 at 730 PM  at the Electric Maid in Takoma DC at 268 Carroll Street\,NW\, Washington\, DC 20012 (across from 7-11 between Seekers Church and Torchinsky's Funeral Home less than one block from Takoma Metro Station-202-545-3980)with Texas troubadours and songwriters Adam Carroll and his wife Chris Carroll (in a very rare chance to see and hear both of them and their only DC area appearance on this tour) and local songwriter John Patrick Brothers of Crooks and Crows in a rare solo show\, for only $15 at the door\, with waters available for a nominal donation in an intimate and comfortable and supportive setting with great sound and artwork.  Adam Carroll (www.adamcarroll.com) is considered one of the top songwriters in Texas and rarely makes it to the DC area. He is a Texas Songwriter born and raised who considers his careful songwriting his forte and  turns the events of ordinary lives into moving and humorous songs. As he says\, "Songwriting is the one thing I'm passionate about". He has co-written with and had his songs covered by other artists and songwriters including Slaid Cleaves\, Hayes Carll (who said he emulates Adam's songwriting and said he used to miss some of his own shows to see Adam perform). His rare sense of language and command of melody have led others to compare him to Townes Van Zandt\, Todd Snider\, John Prine\, and Bob Dylan and his CD's have been produced by Lloyd Maines (yes\, the father of Natalie).  Adam Carroll's wife Chris Carroll (www.chriscarrollsongs.com) originally from Canada but emigrated to Texas\, is a formidable talent of singing and songwriting in her own right and will be performing both separately and together with her husband with whom she has formed both a talent match and a love match.   John Patrick Brothers of Takoma Park band Crooks and Crows (www.crooksandcrows.com or http://www.facebook.com/crooksandcrows) writes and performs songs about motorcycles\, typewriters\, road trips\, and broken hearts in Americana\, folk\, honky tonk\, and country styles and has been called a combination of early Springsteen\, George Jones\, Hank Williams\, and Bob Dylan. Staged like no other\, follow a cast of 7 armed with only an 80 ft piece of cloth as they weave through the story of a woman's descent into madness. An average five to six cities are added each year.    _____    INFORMATION on AGLOW:  Presented by Rutter Family Art Foundation\, Work | Release holds its inaugural show\, AGLOW\, a neon exhibition showcasing 12 local\, national and international artists working with sculptural neon\, in the center of the NEON District. The exhibition will undoubtedly project the New Energy of Norfolk.    The exhibiting artworks were selected from a global call-out. Each work uses primarily non-language based neon to explore themes of light\, narrative\, and form. Without defaulting to the written word\, a common trope with this medium\, AGLOW illuminates the sculptural and conceptual side of neon.
