ALBUM REVIEW BY SHELBY BAKER

After releasing their debut single and EP, PORT HARBOUR has come at full force and released their debut full-length album, Wake. The album, as a whole, is an emotional rush of a sense of intimacy, similar to AMERICAN FOOTBALL’s debut self-titled album. Wake begins with a soft, piano-driven instrumental that has a hint of nostalgia and a little bit of melancholy. This sets the scene to the rest of the album, which exhibits similar emotions through their lyrics. What is impressive about the album is that each song blends flawlessly with one another. From the catchy number, “Avalanche”, to the slow, almost ballad-like “Rip the Sails”, PORT HARBOUR manage to maintain a cohesive theme and sound but stretch the boundaries to make the songs uniquely their own. As a whole, Wake is a striking album. They set the bar high for their debut, and I can only imagine the brilliance they have in store for future releases.
